School of Performing Arts - delay of term start
Thanks to the volcano in Iceland, I am stuck in America and won't be able to get a flight back until after the weekend! Please note that the School of Performing Arts classes will now start on May 1st - all other Pure Rhythm classes will run as normal.
Once on this Island production

A treat was in store for everyone when Pure Rhythm performed Once on this Island, the highly acclaimed Broadway musical adaptation of the popular fairytale The Little Mermaid, written by Tony award-winning authors Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens. All the students of the main school took part in this very exciting and colourful yet emotional musical.

Summer Term 2009

Pure Rhythm in the summer term concentrated on film work and made their own commercials, soaps, weather forecasts and news items. The series of filming workshops was run by Lindsay Dillon, a film editor from the company Blue Print, who filmed the end product, edited it and produced a final video of all their work which we played to everyone on the last day of term. Great fun.

Next term in October, Pure Rhythm will be holding a workshop on “Hairspray” the musical with Chloe Hart, who is the latest to play Tracy Tumblad in the West End production and is coming to run the workshop along with the production's Musical Director. As this will be open to all Pure Rhythm students numbers will have to be limited to a 'first come, first served' basis.

On the last day of term the Performing Arts School students had the opportunity to take part in a Choreography competition. This is the first year that Pure Rhythm has done this and already we are being asked if this can be a regular feature.

Cabaret Evening – December 2008
A first for Pure Rhythm. The Theatre Company and a selection of Performing Art School students were involved in an evening of musical extravaganza including singing, dances and sketches from a range of shows such as Wicked, Snoopy, Mary Poppins, Witches of Eastwick, Copacabana and the Two Ronnies. It was a resounding success which with constant mulled wine and mince pies supplied by the “dancing” waitresses made the evening one to remember. I am sure that we will hold another cabaret evening again sometime!

Cats Workshop November 2008
Sally Whitehead, who has toured with Cats, ran a workshop covering movement, dance and costume from the show, the students were very inspired and loved every minute of it all.
